Just Stop Oil

Just Stop Oil is a coalition of groups working together to ensure that the UK government commits to ending all new licenses and consents for the exploration, development, and production of oil, gas, and coal. Just Stop Oil uses nonviolent civil resistance that sometimes leads to arrest. Civil resistance relies on tactics like strikes, boycotts, mass protests, and disruption, to raise awareness of the climate crisis and encourage the government to take it seriously. Just Stop Oil justifies this approach because the science is dire. From a United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Report - The scientific evidence is unequivocal that climate change is a threat to human well-being and the health of the planet. Any further delay in concerted global action will miss a brief and rapidly closing window to secure a livable future. As such, Just Stop Oil believes it is no longer about a single project or campaign, it is about resisting a Government that is harming us, our freedoms, rights, and future, and making them work for us. Just Stop Oil is open to all residents of the UK willing to support or participate in Nonviolent Civil Resistance.
